Just wanted to give you all an update on what is going on with Midnight Yoga. I am currently postponing going ahead with any events at this time due to issues with the space rental and other logistical things that need to be worked out. Hi Everyone out there…
I have been a bad blogette. Things have picked up for me… which is not a problem, I am not complaining. However, I have not had much time to spend reading, and I do have a couple of books I am reading besides the Bhagavad Gita… Heat by Bill Buford, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and Teaching Yoga by Donna Farhi. I love reading and going to Barnes and Noble and buying books, magazines, etc. The magazines I do find easier to find time for because I like to read them in the bath and in transit. But when you are trying to read something like Einstein which is like 800 pages (400 of which I have read), it’s a little hard to lug around.
Things have been really wonderful… as I write this my too good to be true boyfriend Gregory is making us his famous “Mario Batali” tomato sauce while the Ramones is playing in the background. It’s been two months in Philly and this city has really welcomed me with open arms. I am a little sleepy right now to continue typing, but I will not let too much time pass before I write again. If any of my friends, family or yoga students are reading this, I’d love to hear from you…

This is my dog lucy and I just wanted to set the record straight… There was never a flea in the house. My boyfriend thought he saw one, but he didn’t. My dog is still the most perfect dog in the Universe!
I have been a little busy…but I will try to get some reading done tonight.
I have just found out that my dog has brought a flea into our house and I am trying really hard not to be mortified. The reason being that I just reread the 1st and 2nd chapters of the Gita and it basically says that I should ” be unmoved by sensations”. The great thing about the Gita is that you can pick it up at different times of your life and it will mean different things to you. However, the non-attachment part has always been difficult for me. I am attached to my body, my mind, this life. Although sometimes it can be hard to bear, it is simply wonderful. Besides my yoga practice, one of the things I like to do to help me get over my fear of death and attachment to the material world is to think about what Woody Allen says at the end of “Hannah and her sisters”, about living life and laughing and enjoying it while it lasts. That also seems to be the message of these first two chapters of the Gita. When Arjuna does not want to fight Krishna tells him that if he isn’t part of the battle ( life ) he will not reach heaven. So I think I’ll start with the little things tonight and think of this flea as not merely an annoyance, but part of this wonderful thing we call life.

I just moved to Philly about a month ago and I am so thrilled! I was walking my dog yesterday around Rittenhouse square and I passed by the United Lodge of Theosophists. It turns out the entire month of September they have been studying the Bhagavad Gita. Yesterday was their last meeting and I was so bummed. I have read the Bhagavad Gita before but I really thought I would enjoy a thorough analysis of it and read a chapter each day and try to apply it to my life. So here I will be posting thoughts and comments on the Gita as I start again with Chapters 1 and 2. If there is anyone out there that would like to do the same along with me, it would be really great to start a dialogue.
